The collection leans toward literary fiction, with a smaller sampling of other sub-genres, including some mainstream fiction. All pertinent information is listed using standard IBCA terminology, and links are provided for more detailed descriptions on selected items, as space permits.
      Unless noted otherwise, all volumes are cloth bound (hard back), have dust jackets, and are standard 8vo size (octavo - approx. 7" to 10" in length).

      Reinaldo Arenas' book is the third and central volume of five book sequence. The first version of this book disappeared in Havana in 1969, the second was confiscated in Havana in 1971. The author has had to rewrite book twice from memory. The present version was smuggled out of Havana in 1974.

The most widely read post-revolutionary Cuban writer, Reinaldo Arenas is not as well known within his native country due to suppression of his writings. This is his first novel.

Demoralized he falls in with a revolutionary plot led by the Astrologer, a wierd and muddled fanatic. An Argentinian writer (1900-1942), Roberto Arlt wrote four novels while working as a columnist for El Mundo. They were not well received in his day, but in the 70s and 80s his work began to be re-published in Argentina, and translated into anthologies here.

The disturbing acts of violence are juxtiposed to her quiet, meticulous observations of insect life within the confines of greenhouse. This is a wickedly powerful novel of love and hate, good and evil and damnation and redemption. Fernando Arrabal is a well known dramatist and this is his 2nd novel published in English.
